Jonas Friis is a Danish figurative artist whose work explores human encounters, the unconscious, intimacy, and emotional outbursts. Drawing on his experiences as a sailor, he examines emotional tensions shaped by distance and closeness, passion and boredom. He sees art as a human instinct — like dancing or warfare — technically demanding, yet ultimately unpredictable, ridiculous, and absurd.
